Oh, thank goodness -- my Christmas mantel is done. Call 911 because, of course, the rest of the house looks like a glitter bomb went off. But, the mantel is done and I'm hooking up with sweet Layla @ *The Lettered Cottage* for a party!
My friend, Paula, gave me the bird cage and adorable ornaments for Christmas. She has great taste.
I was so excited I decided to do my mantel a little different this year using her gift and birds I gathered from around the house.

I popped the painting out of its frame ("popped" really makes it sound easier than it actually was) and hung letters I made from
cardboard and glitter on the wire.

I threw some "snow" on the logs in the fireplace.

ReplyDeleteLindy, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! Your "popped out" picture frame is similar to my "no glass, wooden window" thingy I put on my mantel for part of my Christmas decor. I'll have to take a photo of it and send you! I don't have it completed yet, though...It's coming along in stages! I totally relate to your "Call 911" statment!! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a creative mantel! The bird cage is really neat and I love your JOY letters!

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely mantel! I really like how it has a vintagey feel. Would you come over to my Tell Me Tuesday Link Party at Vintage Pollyanna and share it? http://vintagepollyanna.blogspot.com/2010/11/tell-me-tuesday-3-sweet-fabric-rosette.html
ReplyDeleteVery pretty-not over done like so many I have seen.
ReplyDeleteEverything, but everything, you do looks fabulous! My favorite thing other than the overall richness of the look is the small mirror inside of the big frame. One day you're going to have to do a "bloppers" post so we know you're human! Blessings, friend.
ReplyDeleteOops, that would be "bloopers" - ha, do you see the irony there???
ReplyDelete@Kim
ReplyDeleteTo Kim, (who has created a fabulous mantel herself -- and doesn't HAVE a fireplace! How creative is that!?!) Thank you!
