Vintage Style Recycled CD & Christmas Card Ornaments

Don't you just love Christmas cards?  I do.  I've been saving mine forever.  I've made gift tags out of some of them but I've saved the best for making these vintage style ornaments.

What you will need:

Old CD's
Christmas cards
Fake snow
All purpose glue
Snowflake punch (optional)
Glitter glue or rhinestones (optional)
Hot glue gun
Ribbon or twine
Spray paint

Paint the unprinted side of the CD.  I used silver.  Let dry.

Choose cards that will work well with the size and shape of the CD.  If the CD overhangs or there is writing on the edge (like mine) don't panic.  The snow will cover it up.

Trace around the CD on the card and cut out.

Using all purpose glue, apply glue in a spiral on the unpainted side of  the CD.

Apply the card, twisting it around on the CD in order to spread the glue evenly.  I don't bother to let it dry -- I just keep going.

Cut a 4" piece of ribbon or twine, fold in half and using hot glue, glue to the top of the CD making a hanger.

If you'll loop your ribbon exactly like mine, the ornament will hang perfectly straight.  If you don't? Well, you can panic now.

Now for the sticky part.  Pour your fake snow into a shallow plastic bowl.  I don't know who invented fake snow but they deserve a Nobel.  Anyway, apply a line of hot glue halfway around the edge of the ornament and quickly press, face down, into the snow and hold it there a moment.

Do the same to the other half.

And now for the fun part.  Embellish away.
The words and phrases were cut from the inside of the cards and I punched the snowflakes out of the cards as well.
