TV Tray & Loveseat Redo

This ho-hum of a TV table comes from Walmart and sells for about $9.99.  I'll bet they sell millions of these things a year and SOMEONE  makes a mint on an item (I'd like to be the ho-hum TV table provider for Walmart but they never called me back) that's not even cute.

I've got one cuz I'm guilty of sometimes sitting in the TV room in front of the TV to eat.  I've been hiding it away but I wanted to spiff it up a little and leave it out.

I finally got around to it...

After a coat of spray paint, I added the monogram with a stencil I used on a chair in an earlier post.  I dry brushed on a little olive green and antiqued the whole thing.  Then, I added drawer pulls.  They add a little something to the table and should also come in handy.

Just a little back story -- the loveseat was made from a antique bed belonging to my husband.  It was old and rickety and really wasn't sturdy enough to be used as a bed any longer. So, I took it apart, had the footboard cut in half (I thought I was going to throw up) and I put it all back together to make this cool loveseat.  Before, the kids were drawing straws to see who was going to have to take it when we're gone...Now, they're fighting over who gets it!

  1. the TV tray is very sweet but that loveseat...that knocked my socks off...well it would have if I had socks on. A great use for an old bed that's too rickity.

  3. Hi Lindy, Your TV tray is adorable. I remember having these trays when I was a child. Of course they were nowhere as pretty as yours. The love seat is amazing! I've seen other benches and such made from a bed but this one is the best I have ever seen. I hope you will drop by and enter my giveaway.

  4. I love what you did to that tv tray. Who would ever think a simple piece like that could turn out so cute. You could sale those babies at craft shows. People would love them.

That loveseat is gorgeous. What a beautiful piece of furniture. I would fight for it if it were in my family.

  7. Lindy, the tray came out so cute. I have one that needs a face lift too.

The loveseat is amazing. The foot board made the most wonderful sides that give it a rolled arm look. Love that.

  72. I saw this post awhile back and decided to redo a tray table for our back room. I could not remember where I saw the idea so am quite late in saying thank you for such a great idea.

The one for the house was done in blue also. I painted one burgundy for my oldest grandson to take to college with him. Burgundy is as close as I could get to the school colors of garnet and black. (University of South Carolina)
