Pretty Little Pictures

I started the "shake-up" today with the bookcase in our TV room.  It was a pretty simple project and only took a few minutes to gather enough family photos to completely fill one of the shelves.
It could have been boring (family photos on a shelf in the TV room -- it doesn't take a genius) but I think I avoided that by layering the pictures and stacking them against the back of the bookcase.  Fourteen of them.

On another shelf are pictures of my Mom in the first, second, third and fourth grades.  Isn't she adorable?

The shadowbox behind them are filled with odds and ends left by the previous owners of our house along with a fun carnival like picture of them.  It will stay with the house if we ever go...

I'm happy with the results.

  15. Super job Lindy. I enjoyed the mix of , what seems to be, vintage and current family pics. We sometime forget to put out the older ones. I found that displaying the older family members and ancestors sparks conversations with the little ones.
    Thanks for the inspiration.
I am following you now. I liked your message at the end of the post. I will borrow that phrase, if I may. Please advise is I shouldn't.

  23. Hi Lindy, I'm one of your newest followers. How it all started was this bee pillow that I had seen in blogland. Actually 2 bee pillows, Once that Ballards sells and one that the Source sells.
Well Living in Canada means high postage so both of these pillows would be out of reach. I thought I could draw out a bee and transform it into a pillow hand hooked as well. You see I also rug hook. Thats another story... Anyhow I saw your pillow on three pixies blog. Wow. Thank you. I traced my pattern onto burlap and then stared to paint. LOVE IT!!! Next I will add the border leaves. When I'm all done I will let you know. I still think I will transfer this pattern on to my linen or monks cloth and give it a go. Rug hooking.

  26. The shadow box frame is fabulous!! We have lived in several houses and I love finding things that the former owners left behind. I have a pretty crock and a pretty cake plate from two homes. (I didn't leave them with the house though..haha). I love your finds.. I have a tatting shuttle like the one in your shadow box that I found in a yard sale sewing box.
