Vintage Suitcase Ideas

The clock is ticking, I know, on my plan to finish my 10 projects in three weeks.  If I were the panic-y type I'd be there.  But, I'm not.  I'm more the rollin' with the punches type.

So, when I realized I'd planned my 10 projects at the same time I was working on an out-of-town wedding for a friend, I just checked out for a week (which is more like a year in "blog" time) and planned on playing catch-up when I got home.  The story of my life...

Remember my pile?  I'm on the second of ten projects -- the vintage suitcase.

By chance, my husbands initials are CW.

I paid the most for it, $10, and thought it was so perfect on the outside I didn't even open it to look at the inside!

Bad move.

(I photographed it here so as to soften the blow.)

I spent the morning surfing the web for inspiration...

...and found all these pictures on Pinterest.
I have to admit I'm not 100% sure what Pinterest is except to say it's really very cool.

Very inspiring.  And what do I have in mind for mine?  You'll have to wait and see...

  3. I'm like Debbie, the last little dog bed is too precious! I have enough old suitcases that I've collected through the years that they are now the bedstands in two rooms and hold the holiday decor for those two bedrooms!

  11. I am in no way shape or form considered "creative." I LOVE looking at what other people have done, and then try to do something similar. We live in NC, and we bought our house 2 years ago this June, and we have planted a pear and 2 apple trees when we moved in. We also have 2 blueberry bushes, 4 grape vines, and a mulberry tree to plant this week as well. We're wanting to have some raised bed garden beds on the side of the house as well and maybe a couple of chickens. We're not going to be able to get much as we only have about 1/3 of an acre, and we have Greyhounds that need running room as well. I guess we didn't really plan out the whole planning for what we wanted to do when we bought our house!

  12. Really cool ideas! I use an old red set, given to me from my Grandmother, for toy "box" storage. They make nice decorations in my living room and the nieces and nephews know to go straight to them for some fun with the toys. Another really old set, given to me from a friend, are used as an side-table beside one of my couches. I also use them as props for my photography. Vintage suitcases have endless possibilities! Can't wait to see what you do with yours. :o)

These photos are great. So much fun to think "out of the box" and find new and intersting ways to use the storage!

  34. I have a precious, handicapped Shih Tzu that I take care of better then myself! When she was only 3 months old, she was shut in a door and was instantly paralyzed from her mid-back to her legs. I must have at least 15 dog beds for her so she can be comfortable at all times!!! She adores all of them and has never been happier! To top it off, the beds I get stay clean naturally thanks to nanotechnology! I couldn’t recommend them more! 
